NEBRASKA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION FESTIVALS

The Nebraska Music Teachers Association sponsors annual music festivals for serious young musicians throughout the state. Festivals consist of performance of prepared repertoire and scale requirements for a competent adjudicator. In addition, students will take an ear training and written test in theory and musicianship. Sight reading is included at the District Festivals level only. Pre-college students who have successfully passed the preliminary District Festivals may enter the non-competitive State Festival held in the fall under the direction of the NMTA Vice President.

Pre-college students may enter in the fields of piano, orchestra strings, voice, woodwinds, brass, percussion, plectrum guitar and classical guitar. Preliminary festivals for pre-college students are held each spring at the district level under the direction of the District Festival Chairs.

How to register for the District Music Festival

    • Online Entry Form: For the Lincoln District Festival ONLY, registration can be done online.  You will need to complete the form for EACH student participating in the event.  Please fill the form completely to the end and hit submit.  You will receive a confirmation screen if your registration was done correctly.  There will be a link on the confirmation screen to go back to the beginning of the form to add another student.  You are able to go back and change information within the form ONLY if you have not hit the “submit” button at the end.  If there are errors in your submission after you have hit the “submit” button, please email webmaster@lmta.info with the corrections.  Corrections/changes are accepted up to two weeks prior to the event.  You will receive an email to confirm your registrations the first week of April.

    • Teacher Participation Form: For the Lincoln District Festival ONLY, the teacher participation form can be filled out online.  Please complete a form for EACH teacher that has students participating in the festival, even if they are from one studio.  All teachers with students participating are required to work 2 hours on the day of the festival.

    • Checks: Teachers, you must submit ONE check payable to the Nebraska Music Teachers Association to cover registration fees for your own students. Mail your check by the postmark deadline (March 13, 2012, for the Lincoln District) to the District Chair listed below. Do NOT use the PayPal option on the LMTA website. Your online registrations will not be processed until your check is received.
