Dr. Ann Chang talks about Lied Center Piano Series

The LMTA General Membership Meeting/Potluck Luncheon was held on Saturday, September 19 at Faith Bible Church in Lincoln. Guest speaker, Dr. Ann Chang, Artistic Director at the Lied Center, and Associate Professor of practice at Glenn Korff School of Music, UNL, spoke about a partnership between the Lied Center and LMTA whereby students, teachers and parents receive deeply discounted tickets. The first concert will be December 1, at 7:30 PM and feature Stephen Hough, Piano. Also, mark your calendar for February 27: Russian National Orchestra, featuring Yuja Wang, and April 6: Garrick Ohlson, Piano.

Biography

Ann Chang is an active soloist and lecturer in the U.S. and Europe. Her curiosity and wide-ranging musical interests have taken her in many directions, allowing her to forge a unique career and establish a distinguished reputation. She received an appointment as a Fulbright Scholar in Belgium (Brussels) which gave her an opportunity to expand her interest in the study of Classic Performance Practice. Ann is the Founder of the award-winning Meadowlark Music Festival, and is presently Artistic Director of the Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska.

In addition to her busy career as a performer and presenter, Dr. Chang is Artist-in-Residence at the University of Nebraska School of Music. Leveraging her extensive knowledge in arts presenting and management, she is Director of the University's Arts Entrepreneurship Program where she helps the next generation of musicians think creatively and thrive in the performing arts. Recent performances include a recital series in Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Croatia, and Argentina; and in celebrated U.S. venues in Spokane; Chicago; Portland, Oregon; and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Dr. Chang earned the degrees BM, MM, and DM from Indiana University-Bloomington. Ann resides in Lincoln, Nebraska with her children Sarah, Hannah, and Peter.
